There are three categories for this game: any%, any% all stages, and 100%. 100% includes rescuing all the reploids and collecting all of the extra pickups. Any% all stages completes the game after completing all 8 maverick stages. Any% simply completes the game, skipping any number of mavericks.

If you want to know specifically which reploids give which abilities for your routing (or if you're feeling nuts enough to try 100%), the following guide is recommended:

RouteEdit

Any% (Normal)Edit

  • Infinity Mijinion or Shield Sheldon (Bonus area to get Zero). Both take about the same amount of time if done optimally.
  • Shield Sheldon
  • Rainy Turtloid (optional but recommended)
  • Commander Yammark (optional) - For Sub tank / yammar option, which makes the game easier.
  • Infinity Mijinion (Bonus area to defeat High Max). - Enter as Falcon if doing Guard Shield only route. As Zero if doing 2+ stages.
    • NOTE 1: After defeating Sheldon and Turtloid, you should have enough Nightmare Souls (500) to equip 1 ability. Master Saber from Mijinion's bonus area is recommended, or D-Barrier from Sheldon's, especially for first High Max fight.
    • NOTE 2: Easy is ...easier and more of a preference and only causes minor RNG reduction.

All Stages (Normal)Edit

  • Rainy Turtloid (Bonus area to get Zero)
    • Collect Saber Plus and Hyper Dash in bonus area from reploids. (these are the upper right and lower left reploids in the bonus area)
  • Shield Sheldon (Its a good idea to grab 1 or 2 nightmare souls here in conjunction with Mijinion)
    • This stage is based on the laser beam cycles, but unlike most cycle based things getting half of a cycle saves time. These cycle can be made by when you load the lasers in the room 2 by standing at a distance and jumping down to load them at specific times. There are 4 main approaches to this area. NOTE: METHOD 1 is easiest and 4 is hardest (1 can be done while asleep and 4 requires TAS execution)
      • METHOD 1 - You jump down to the door and just wait for the laser to hit the panel and open the door
      • METHOD 2 - You stand on the platform away from the laser beam and door until the laser stops firing then just down to the door
      • METHOD 3 - You do the same thing as in Method 2 but you use 5 z busters at a very casual mash and your first and second slashed of your 3 slash combo then jump down to the ground and walk to the wall. and u need to be extra fast in the room 2 because u have loaded the laser slightly later putting them on tight cycle.
      • METHOD 4 - Same as METHOD 4 but adds on to it,
        • ROOM 3 - By getting directly in front of The Death Press D and using Z Buster to kill the enemy and to puncture it and hit the mirror. Then Ground Dash Forward and cansel your dash with a ground slash to put the mirror in position. You will immediately take damage from the laser after this then proceed into Room 4.
        • ROOM 4 - In Room it is basically the same as always just your 1st mirrors slashes need to very close together because you will lose the cycle if you are not (In the other Methods the cycle isn't very tight so u don't need to be as fast.). On the 2nd mirror set you do 2 air slashes making contact with both then a ground slash and then will take immediate damage from the laser then finally rush into the Boss Corridor and chain Ground Dashes to the boss door. (EXAMPLE: http://www.twitch.tv/8bitisgr8/v/29134117 )
  • Infinity Mijinion (Before entering the Boss door you must be at 300 souls or you won't be able to equip)
  • Rainy Turtloid (before this stage equip both Hyper Dash and Saber+, with an equiping glitch)
    • Use Rekkoha and Guard Shell to clear the keys and generators fast.
  • Commander Yammark
    • Collect subtank + Life Recover from reploid near subtank.
  • Metal Shark Player (This Stage is what makes PS2 x collection have a disadvantage in In-Game Time)
    • PS2 Block Explosion Bug - The destructible blocks typically used to get Ensuizan Glitch off of explode as soon as they spawn making the cycle skip near impossible (you would have to use yammark option and pray that they can kill the Junkroid right in front of the crusher u need to make it over.
    • Cycle Skip - You can make it under the crusher if u time a dash jump at the very end of theledge at the top and on the ground break into a Ground Dash Chain (http://puu.sh/mZHO6/0d55f3072c.jpg ).

(use Charged Ray Arrow on the bosses as falcon armor every thing else will use Guard shell glitch or SDC)

All Stages (Easy) Edit

  • Rainy Turtliod (Bonus area to get Zero)
    • Collect Saber Plus and Hyper Dash in bonus area from reploids. (these are the upper right and lower left reploids in the bonus area)
      • NOTE: The keys that you destroy to unlock the generators to destroy to progress through the stage only require 1 Charged shot to die (opposed to 1 Charged shot and a pellet in Normal) and Nightmares only need 1 pellet to die (opposed to a Charged shot in Normal)
  • Shield Sheldon

  • Infinity Mijinion (use Guard shell and everything else is self-explanatory)
  • Commander Yammark (self-explanatory)
  • Rainy Turtloid (before this stage equip both Hyper Dash and Saber+, with an equiping glitch)

Be sure to get all the Life Up and Energy Ups that you can get. Most of them are in the direct path of the stage, check the reploid list and be sure to look out for them.

Before You PlayEdit

Pre Game settingsEdit

Make sure to adjust the controls to your preference, as you'll need to SDC (slash dash cancel) in some places, most notably the first boss Shield Sheldon. The other options you should look into changing is the Auto Charge option, as it is much easier to platform without having to hold down whatever you bind to shoot. The half charged shot is useful only in a few places in the run and can easily be done even if you have Auto Charge on. And also Rapid Fire which can save save time most notable on the Rainy Turtliod visit to unlock Zero.

GlitchesEdit

Equipment GlitchEdit

So how you perform this glitch is by selecting the piece of equipment you want to equip (either Hyper dash or Saber plus) then hit the cancel button and select button on the same frame. How you tell you got the glitch when performing it on zero is when you get a yellow outline around the equipment section this shows you bugged one of the pieces of equipment on, now you can equip the other piece and equip both items in one slot. This is mainly used to equip hyper dash and saber plus at the same time. So the only other time you need to equip an item is life recover.

Ensuizan InvincibilityEdit

When you use Ensuizan (Zero's Turtloid ability) and fall off a platform midway into the Ensuizan animation, Zero becomes invincible. The invincibility wears off when you lose control by transitioning screens, entering a mid-stage boss (like trash compactor in MSP's stage) and Alia's and Dr. Light's Texts; and when performing Ensuizan or Sentsuizan. You are invincible to all forms of damage except crushing and falling into a pit.

Examples of where this ability is useful are the following:

  • Commander Yammark - Use it on top of a potato bug at the beginning and avoid getting damaged by same bug.
  • Blizzard Wolfang - Use it while slipping off the slanted slope.
  • Metal Shark Player - Use it on top of any of the destroyable blocks. In the first half of the stage, this may not be possible on the PS2 version due to a bug.
  • Ground Scaravich - Hologram sections have destroyable blocks.
  • Gate 1 - After spike climb, use it on slippery slanted slopes similar to Wolfang's stage.
  • Gate 2 - If you get on top of a totem and Ensuizan as it finishes exploding, invincibility happens. Timing is tight.
  • Gate Fight - When he shoots his blue orb that pulls you, you can ensuizan as it pulls you off the ledge for invincibility. Timing is hard, and Gate will often knock you off.
  • Final Sigma Fight - His green platforms that he shoots can be broken and if done with ensuizan, you become invincibile. Note: Can often get crushed by those platforms if you're not careful later in the fight (which makes you vincible again)

Scaravich Hologram SkipEdit

NOTE: Requires Falcon Armor X and Wolfang's Ice ability.

Shoot an ice block and dash into its hitzone before it lands. You will have invincibility frames for a short time after if done correctly (same animation that happens when you take damage, except you don't take any damage from this). During invincibility frames, dash past the hologram. Can be done on all four holograms. However, if you enter any hologram areas after the first and finish the hologram area, it will return you to the first totem.

If you die anytime after the first two totems, you will still respawn at the halfway point. Consider dying to save time if you mess up any holograms, as that will also refill your weapon energy.

Failing this trick on the PlayStation version may cause a softlock.

Last Donut Skip in Heatnix's StageEdit

NOTE: Only possible on JP PSX version due to lag (as far as we can tell).

If you prevent scrolling to the very top of the screen (the one with the donut + purple lava filling half the screen), the last donut miniboss can be skipped. This is done using Zero's ability that he receives from Scaravich. Just watch Nico runners try this, as they very likely will.

Differences between versionsEdit

The PSX version has the longest loading times. The PS2 and Gamecube versions on X Collection are pretty similar. However, the PS2 version has a bug in Metal Shark Player's stage (first half) where all the destructible blocks will explode upon entering the player's view.

Since there are differences in loading times, the best way to compare runs should be via in-game timer (since that does not include loading times), the in-game timer strictly takes into account only frames of control so IGT is preferred for comparing on leader boards because of the variety of versions.
